28 JuneGeneral MacArthur’s headquarters announced the end of Japanese resistance in the Philippines.

Italian submarines were still being used for anti-submarine exercises. Over one hundred exercise sorties were carried out during the month off Alexandria, Brindisi, Colombo, Naples, and Taranto, but mostly at Port Everglades (Florida) and Guantanamo (Cuba).
